Shalimar Bagh doctor murder: The deceased doctor has been identified as Kanhaiya. Kanhaiya’s family was informed about the murder by police over the phone.

New Delhi: A doctor was stabbed to death inside his clinic in the Shalimar Bagh area of Delhi, police said on Wednesday. The accused, identified as Virender, reportedly killed the doctor after he suspected the victim was having an illicit relationship with his wife. The deceased doctor has been identified as Kanhaiya. Kanhaiya’s family was informed about the murder by police over the phone.

After the incident, the accused went to the police station and surrendered. According to police sources, Virender told police that he had killed his wife’s alleged lover.

Virender then accompanied the police team to the clinic, where the victim’s body was found lying in a pool of blood. The Shalimar Bagh police have arrested the accused and initiated an investigation into the case. Further details are awaited as officials probe the sequence of events and motive behind the crime.

Victim’s family seeks death penalty

Police have sent Kanhaiya’s body to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital in Jahangirpuri for autopsy. The post-mortem is scheduled to be conducted today after which the body will be handed over to the family.

Meanwhile, the victim doctor’s family has called for justice and urged the police to ensure strict punishment. The family has demanded a death penalty for the accused and a fair probe into the murder.

Meanwhile, police are scanning CCTV footage from the area to ascertain whether anyone else was also involved in the murder or if accused acted alone.

Why Virender killed Kanhaiya?

The deceased doctor’s family has claimed that Kanhaiya was not involved in any kind of illicit relationship with any girl. Rather, the family alleged, Virender was pressuring the doctor to marry his niece (his sister’s daughter).

However, the family claimed, Kanhaiya reportedly told Virender that he wanted to get his sister married first before thinking about his own marriage
